Issey Miyake founded Miyake Design Studio in April 1970. The company now known as Issey Miyake Inc. was established in November 1971. The first ISSEY MIYAKE store opened in Tokyo in March 1974, with the first international outlet following in Paris in September 1975. The brand's first fragrance, L'Eau d'Issey, was launched in March 1992 through a collaboration between Miyake Design Studio and the French company BPI.
