About the Brand
The history of Atkinsons began in London in 1799, when James Atkinson introduced his formulas for fragrances and toiletry preparations. He established his first premises at 44 Gerrard Street in Soho. In 1826, King George IV appointed Atkinsons as the official perfumer to the English royal court, and in 1832 the company moved to 24 Old Bond Street in Mayfair.
In the 1830s, James's brother Edward joined the business and the company adopted the name J. & E. Atkinson Ltd. The brand's distinctive orange colour is a reference to the brick building of the original laboratory on Gerrard Street.
With the fragrance James, you receive a contemporary tribute to the individual with whom the brand's London story has been intertwined since 1799.
