About the brand

Atkinsons was founded by James Atkinson in London in 1799. He began his business at 44 Gerrard Street in Soho, which this fragrance pays homage to. In 1826, Atkinsons became the official perfumer to the English royal court of King George IV.

In the 1830s, James's brother Edward joined the business and the company adopted the name J. & E. Atkinson Ltd. The current production and sale of Atkinsons 1799 products is handled by EuroItalia.
