About the Brand

The origins of the 4711 brand date back to 1792, when Cologne merchant Wilhelm Mülhens was at its founding. The name derives from the house number on Glockengasse street, assigned to the building in 1794 by French occupiers. The numerical designation 4711 was registered as a trademark in 1875.

The Acqua Colonia sub-brand entered the market in 2009. The brand describes its origin as Made in Germany, more specifically Made in Cologne.
