About the Brand

The origins of the 4711 brand date back to 1792, when Wilhelm Muelhens, according to traditional history, received the recipe for Aqua Mirabilis as a wedding gift. He subsequently opened a small production facility on Glockengasse street in Cologne.

The number 4711 comes from the house number assigned to the building during the French occupation in 1794. The 4711 designation was registered as a trademark in 1875. The brand is currently owned by the perfumery company Mäurer & Wirtz.

The eau de cologne thus continues the history of the brand associated with the city of Cologne and Glockengasse street.
