About the Brand

Madame Grès opened her own fashion house in 1932 and renamed it Grès in 1942. She was known as the "sculptor of fabric": she worked with distinctive pleating of silk jersey and cut fabric directly on the model without paper patterns. Some of her gowns featured up to 300 pleats.
