About the Brand

Ecoalf was founded by Javier Goyeneche in 2009. The name and concept were inspired by the names of his sons Alfred and Álvaro. The founding goal was to create recycled products with quality and design comparable to those made from non-recycled materials. After three years of research and development, the brand launched its first collection in 2012 and opened its first flagship store in Madrid.

The Ecoalf Foundation was established in 2015 to support the Upcycling the Oceans project. In collaboration with fishermen, it collects marine waste and processes it into yarn and fabrics. Ecoalf also produces Ocean Yarn from recycled plastic bottles — a 100% recycled polyester also used in footwear.

In 2018, Ecoalf became the first Spanish fashion company to receive B Corp certification. In 2022, it received Best for the World recognition, placing it among the top 5% of companies in the environmental category. During its third B Corp certification in 2025, it achieved a score of 122.7 points.
