About the Brand

Ecoalf was founded in 2009 by Javier Goyeneche, who serves as its president. The name and concept were inspired by his sons Alfredo and Álvaro. The original mission was to create recycled products with quality and design comparable to those made from non-recycled materials. The first collection was launched in 2012 after three years of research and development, the same year the brand opened its first flagship store in the centre of Madrid.

In 2015, the Ecoalf Foundation was established to support the Upcycling the Oceans project. This initiative works with the fishing industry to collect marine waste and transform it into yarns and textiles. The project brings together 4,775 fishermen across Spain, France, Italy, Greece and Egypt.

Ecoalf became the first Spanish fashion company to receive B Corporation certification in 2018, which evaluates companies' social and environmental practices, transparency and accountability. In 2025, the brand completed its third B Corp certification, achieving a score of 122.7 points. It has also committed to reaching net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.
