About the Brand

Ecoalf was founded by Javier Goyeneche in 2009. The name was created by combining the names of his sons Alfred and Álvaro. The original vision was to reduce the wasteful consumption of natural resources and to create recycled products with quality and design comparable to non-recycled products. The first clothing collection followed in 2012 after three years of research and development; in the same year, the brand opened its first store in the centre of Madrid.

The Ecoalf Foundation was established in 2015 to support the Upcycling the Oceans project. The project aims to clean the oceans, make secondary use of recovered marine waste and raise awareness of pollution. Within the project, sorted plastic waste is processed into flakes and granules, with PET subsequently being convertible into polyester yarn.

In 2018, the brand became the first Spanish fashion company to receive B Corp certification. At its third certification in 2025, it achieved a score of 122.7 points.
