About the Brand

Ecoalf was founded by Javier Goyeneche in 2009. The brand's name and concept were inspired by the names of his sons Alfred and Álvaro. The first collection was launched in 2012, after three years of research and development, in the first flagship store in the centre of Madrid.

In 2015, the Ecoalf Foundation was established to support the Upcycling the Oceans project. This initiative works with the fishing industry to collect marine waste and transform it into yarn and fabrics. The project involves 4,775 fishermen from Spain, France, Italy, Greece and Egypt, and has removed more than 2.1 million kilograms of waste from the ocean floor.

Ecoalf became the first Spanish fashion company to receive B Corp certification in 2018. In 2022, it received the B Corp Best for the World recognition, placing it among the top 5% of highest-rated companies in the environmental category. It completed its third B Corp certification in 2025 with a score of 122.7 points.
