About the Brand

Ecoalf was founded in 2009. Its founder and president is Javier Goyeneche, who was inspired to create the brand's name and concept by the birth of his sons Alfred and Álvaro. The original vision was to produce recycled products with quality and design comparable to non-recycled goods. The brand launched its first collection and first flagship store in Madrid in 2012, following three years of research and development.

In 2018, Ecoalf became the first Spanish fashion company to receive B Corporation certification. The brand is also certified under the Global Recycled Standard and in 2019 received PETA Vegan certification as well as the PETA Vegan Fashion Award. It began using a blend of 50% recycled and 50% organic cotton for its sweatshirts in 2021.

The Ecoalf Foundation was established in 2015 to support the Upcycling the Oceans project. This initiative works with the fishing industry to collect marine waste and transform it into yarn and textiles. In 2022, B Corp named Ecoalf among "Best for the World" companies, placing it in the top 5% in the environmental category.
