About the Brand

Madame Grès opened her own fashion house in 1932. In 1935, she achieved remarkable success with her silk jersey dresses. She cut the fabric directly on the model without paper patterns, and her characteristically pleated dresses could feature up to 300 folds.

In 1942, she renamed her fashion house Grès. The brand subsequently expanded its activities to include ready-to-wear clothing and the fragrances Cabochard and Cabotine. Madame Grès was awarded the French Legion of Honour, first at the rank of Knight and later as an Officer. Lalique Group acquired the licence for Parfums Grès in 2001 and the brand itself in 2007.

Cabochard is one of the fragrances through which Grès expanded beyond its originally fashion-focused activities.
