The roots of the Diadermine brand trace back to France at the beginning of the 20th century. In 1904, brothers Giambattista and Cornelio Bonetti patented Diadermine and founded the company Bonetti Frères. The original product was an oil-in-water emulsion used by pharmacists in wound care.
