About the Brand

Nivea Creme was launched in Hamburg in 1911. The original cream was developed in collaboration by Dr. Oscar Troplowitz, chemist Dr. Isaac Lifschütz and dermatologist Prof. Paul Gerson Unna. The result was the first stable combination of oil and water suitable for mass production.

The name Nivea derives from the Latin words "nix, nivis", meaning snow. The iconic blue tin with white lettering was introduced in 1925.
