About the Brand

Banana Republic was founded by Mel and Patricia Ziegler in 1978 in Mill Valley, California, where they also opened their first store that same year. Mel Ziegler worked as a reporter for the San Francisco Chronicle, while Patricia Ziegler worked as a courtroom illustrator.
