About the Brand

Ecoalf was founded in 2009 by Javier Goyeneche, who also serves as the brand's president. The name and concept were inspired by his sons Alfredo and Álvaro. The original vision was to create recycled products with quality and design comparable to non-recycled goods. After three years of research and development, the first collection and the first flagship store in Madrid were launched in 2012.

In 2015, the Ecoalf Foundation was established to support the Upcycling the Oceans project. This initiative works with the fishing industry to collect ocean waste and transform it into yarns and textiles. The brand states that it has developed more than 400 recycled textiles.

Ecoalf became the first Spanish fashion company to receive B Corp certification in 2018. In 2022, B Corp ranked it among "Best for the World", placing it in the top 5% of companies in the environmental category. In 2025, the brand successfully completed its third B Corp certification with a score of 122.7 points. It also holds the Global Recycled Standard certification and has been a PETA Vegan certified brand since 2019.

Ecoalf bases its approach on the long-term development of recycled textiles and projects focused on making use of collected ocean waste.
