About the Brand

The LEGO Group was founded in 1932 by Ole Kirk Kristiansen. The name LEGO was derived from the Danish words "leg godt", meaning "play well". The current form of the LEGO brick, with its principle of interlocking using inner tubes, was introduced in 1958.

The company is headquartered in Billund, Denmark, is privately owned and continues to be owned by the Kirk Kristiansen family.

The construction set is thus based on the LEGO brick building principle that has been in use since 1958.
