Phyllanthus Niruri, also known by the names Chanca Piedra, Stone Crusher, or Stonebreaker, is an annual herb growing primarily in the Amazon rainforest. It is a species of plant that belongs to the goatfoot family and plays a significant role in the tradition of South American indigenous cultures, especially for its medicinal properties. Its name already suggests what its effects are aimed at - it helps in the treatment of kidney and gallstones.
As an herb, however, Phyllanthus Niruri is used for many other purposes. It is processed into many formats for easier and more enjoyable consumption. It can be made into a tea, or it can be processed into a powder that can be added to foods and beverages. Phyllanthus Niruri is also used in the pharmaceutical industry for the production of medicines, especially those used to treat kidney and liver diseases or to aid digestion and detoxify the body. The plant is also used in the cosmetics industry, where its extract is added to skin and hair care products, such as various masks, creams or shampoos. It is great for moisturizing and turning the body back to normal pH.
