Tom Ford Black Orchid eau de parfum for women combines black truffle, ylang-ylang and black orchid with rum-soaked plum, patchouli and vanilla. The fragrance was originally intended for women, but later became popular with men as well.

Scent and Composition

• This is a floral-oriental Eau de Parfum launched in 2006.
• The top notes include truffle, gardenia, blackcurrant, ylang-ylang, jasmine, bergamot, mandarin and Amalfi lemon.
• The heart brings together orchid, spices, gardenia, fruity notes, ylang-ylang, jasmine and lotus.
• The base is composed of Mexican chocolate, patchouli, vanilla, incense, amber, sandalwood, vetiver and white musk.
• Key notes include black truffle, ylang-ylang, black orchid, black plum, rum absolute and patchouli.

The opening combines black truffle and ylang-ylang with bergamot and bitter orange. The black orchid accord is complemented by rum-soaked black plum, while patchouli and creamy vanilla add a woody, warm depth to the dry-down.

The fragrance was created by perfumers David Apel and Pierre Negrin. The scent composition was developed in collaboration with Givaudan. Black Orchid received the Fragrance Hall of Fame award from The Fragrance Foundation in 2022.

The composition progresses from truffle, ylang-ylang and citrus through orchid with rum-soaked plum to patchouli, chocolate and vanilla.

Application

• Spray the fragrance onto clean skin once or twice on your chosen pulse points.
• Do not rub the fragrance into the skin after application, as this will alter its development.
