About the Brand

The Chopard brand was founded by Louis-Ulysse Chopard in 1860. He opened his business in Sonvilier, Switzerland, at the age of 24, with the original manufacture focused on precision pocket watches and chronometers.

In 1937, Chopard moved to Geneva. The company was purchased in 1963 by Karl Scheufele III, who continued to develop it together with his wife Karin. In 2013, the brand launched its long-term Journey to Sustainable Luxury programme, and since July 2018 it has used exclusively ethical gold in the production of watches and jewellery.
