About the Brand

LEGO Group was founded by Ole Kirk Kristiansen in 1932. The name LEGO was created by combining the Danish words "leg godt", meaning "play well". The current form of the LEGO brick was introduced in 1958.

The company is headquartered in Billund, Denmark, remains privately owned by the Kirk Kristiansen family, and according to the manufacturer, LEGO Technic pieces are tested by dropping, heating, crushing, twisting and analysis to meet global safety standards.

LEGO thus continues the brand's history dating back to 1932 and the long-established design of its brick.
