About the Brand

LEGO Group was founded by Ole Kirk Kristiansen in 1932. It is a private company headquartered in Billund, Denmark, and remains owned by the Kirk Kristiansen family. The name LEGO was formed by combining the Danish words "leg godt", meaning "play well". The current form of the brick with its tube-based connection system was introduced in 1958.

The brand's history connects family ownership, Danish origins, and the brick connection system in use since 1958.
