About the Brand

The history of the perfume house Houbigant dates back to 1775, when Jean-François Houbigant opened a shop on the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris. Its symbol was a painted basket of flowers.

In 1838, Houbigant was granted the right to use the title of perfumer to Queen Victoria of Great Britain. Paul Parquet later created Fougère Royale for the brand, which in 1882 defined the fougère fragrance family and made use of coumarin isolated from tonka beans.

The original Quelques Fleurs was created in Grasse, France, and continues to be produced in the same laboratories. At the time, it represented a pioneering multi-floral composition, while earlier floral perfumes were predominantly soliflores or complemented with herbs and spices.
