About the Brand

The Schwarzkopf brand was founded in 1898 by chemist and pharmacist Hans Schwarzkopf. His first shop in Berlin-Charlottenburg offered dyes, drugstore, and perfumery goods. In 1903, the brand introduced a water-soluble powder shampoo, and in 1927 opened the Schwarzkopf Institute of Hair Hygiene. Since 1 November 1995, Hans Schwarzkopf GmbH has been part of Henkel.
