About the Brand

Montblanc has been based and operating in Hamburg since 1906. It was founded by engineer August Eberstein and Hamburg businessmen Alfred Nehemias and Claus Johannes Voss. The brand's first writing instrument was introduced in 1909 under the name Rouge et Noir.

The name Montblanc, chosen in 1910, was inspired by the highest peak in the Alps. The six-pointed white star in the emblem represents the six snow-covered glaciers of Mont Blanc. The brand's philosophy emphasises the combination of fine European craftsmanship with traditional designs.
