About the Brand

LEGO Group was founded by Ole Kirk Kristiansen in 1932. The name LEGO was derived from the abbreviated Danish words "leg godt", meaning "play well". The current form of the LEGO brick was introduced in 1958.

The company is headquartered in Billund, Denmark, is privately owned, and continues to be owned by the Kirk Kristiansen family.

The set builds on the history of the family-owned LEGO brand, which began in Denmark in 1932.
