Saponin

Harm score: 1 (Natural substances)

Saponin, also known by the names Lactobacillus acidophilus/helveticus or simply lactobacillus acidophilus, is a type of ingredient found in many plants. Although this substance is generally considered unpalatable for consumption, it is known for its health benefits and is often added to various health supplements and foods, such as probiotic yoghurt. Saponins are generally involved in the production of yogurt and other dairy products, which include creating the right consistency and taste, as well as improving the absorption of certain vitamins and minerals in the body.

However, it should be noted that the term 'saponin' and 'lactobacillus acidophilus' refer to two different things. While saponins are a group of chemical compounds found naturally in many plants and are known for their foaming properties, Lactobacillus Acidophilus is the name for a type of bacteria that are beneficial to human health and are found naturally in our bodies. Lactobacillus Acidophilus is added to many probiotic supplements and foods, including yogurt, for its beneficial effects on digestion and overall health. The problem here, however, may arise from misinterpretation or confusion between the two terms, which, although they may be found in the same products, refer to different ingredients with different functions.
