Quaternium-19, also known by the names Coconut Tree or Coconut Palm, is a synthetic chemical that is often used in the cosmetic industry. This ingredient is considered one of the most important ingredients in the production of detergents, soaps, shampoos and other high foaming products. It is a quaternary ammonium compound that has the ability to bind to keratin in the skin and hair, improving their moisturizing properties and adding shine.
Quaternium-19 is popular for its ability to soften the hair cuticle and improve its moisturizing properties. As a result, this ingredient is often added to conditioners, hair masks or hair serums. In addition, it is widely used in body care products, such as hand creams, body lotions or shower gels - where it serves as an effective foam-enhancing and moisturising ingredient. However, it must be stressed that Quaternium-19, as a chemical, is dosed in cosmetic products in small quantities to avoid irritating the skin.
