Polyquaternium-44, also known as Polyquaternium-4, is a synthetic substance that is commonly used in cosmetic and care products. It includes polymers made up of cations that have the ability to form a layer on the surface of the skin or hair, thereby nourishing and protecting it. Its main tasks are adhesion, antistatic action, conditioning and film formation.
Polyquaternium-44 is often a component of shampoos, conditioners, shower gels, soaps and cosmetic products. It also finds its application in some oral hygiene products such as some brands of mouthwashes. Thanks to its properties, this substance can moisturise, smooth and add elasticity to skin and hair, acting as a protective layer against damage. In addition, it has antistatic effects that prevent hair from becoming electrified.
