Panthenyl Triacetate

Panthenyl Triacetate, also known by the more complex name 4-[(3-Acetoxypropyl)amino]-2,2-dimethyl-4-oxobutane-1,3-diyl diacetate, is a synthetic substance that is often used in cosmetics as an emollient and moisturizing ingredient. It is a derivative of vitamin B5, specifically its ester, which is able to convert back to the original, active form of the vitamin in the body. As a result, it can convey the beneficial effects of vitamin B5 directly to the skin.

Panthenyl Triacetate is typically used in skin and hair care products. In many cases, it is included in the formulation of creams, face masks, shampoos, conditioners, oils and serums. Its presence increases hydration of skin and hair, improves the appearance of dry and damaged skin and hair, and allows for easier detangling. It is especially suitable for dry, sensitive or damaged skin as it helps to normalize its function and promotes its regeneration. It is also often used to enrich various make-ups and concealers, as it promotes long-term hydration of the skin and thus helps to improve the final visual impression. Although it is a synthetic ingredient, it is considered safe and well tolerated by even the more sensitive skin types.
