M-Aminophenol, also known as 2-phenoxyethanol, is an organic compound that is a component of many industrial products as well as some cosmetic products. This substance has a wide range of uses, so it is rare not to find products in which it is present. M-Aminophenol is considered a better tolerated alternative to conventional preservatives. It is a chemical substance used in cosmetics as a colour stabilizer and mainly as a preservative. Preservatives are substances that, when added to products, prevent them from spoiling due to, for example, bacteria or fungi. M-Aminophenol is also used in some medical and pharmaceutical products, again as a preservative. In addition to its wide use in industry and cosmetics, m-aminophenol is also used in laboratories as a reagent in the synthesis of certain drugs.
