Isononyl Isonononanoate, also known by the names Marrubium vulgare, white beetle, apple cider, samaritan, fragrant ear, is a synthetic ester with a pronounced skin softening and smoothing ability. This compound is produced from isononanoic acid and isononyl alcohol and is classified as an emollient ingredient, meaning it helps soften and smooth the skin. It also ensures that the skin appears more hydrated, making products containing Isononyl Isononanoate suitable for people with dry or sensitive skin.

Isononyl Isonononanoate is often used as an ingredient in personal care and beauty products, specifically in moisturizers, makeup, serums, cleansers, sunscreens, deodorants or shampoos. However, its use is not limited to the cosmetics industry. Thanks to its properties, it is also used in some plastic packaging, where it helps to increase their flexibility and flow. Although it is widely used, it should be used with caution as it can cause skin irritation in sensitive individuals. It is always important to monitor skin reaction when first using a product containing this compound.
