Other names: Hexyldecyl laurate, 2-Hexyldecyl dodecanoate

Hexyldecyl Laurate, also known by the names Hexyldecyl Laurate or 2-Hexyldecyl Dodecanoate, is a substance considered an emollient. It is an ester of lauric acid and hexyldecyl alcohol. This chemical compound is one of the high quality ingredients that are commonly used in the cosmetic industry. This is because of its unique character that can create an ultra-thin protective film on the skin surface. While this film is invisible, it is also impervious to water, a property where the body is able to retain its natural moisture and is thus protected from dryness.

Hexyldecyl Laurate is used in many personal care and cosmetic products. This includes various types of moisturizers, body lotions, makeup and other types of decorative cosmetics where its emollient effect improves the routability and overall texture of the product. We also often see its presence in various types of sunscreens, where it helps prevent the sun from drying out the skin. Its versatility and positive properties make Hexyldecyl Laurate a popular ingredient in the cosmetic industry. It is important to point out that although it is a synthetic compound, it is safely used in products intended for daily use.
