It is an important ingredient in the pharmaceutical industry where it is used in the preparation of drugs, particularly as a filler or binder in tablets. It is also used in cosmetics - in shampoos, creams and other body care products. It is environmentally safe, biodegradable and is considered a renewable raw material.
