Harm score: 3 (Harmless chemicals)

C13-15 Alkane, also known by many other names such as catechu, catechu, katechu, catechu, cutch tree, catecu, black cutch, black catechu, gum catechu, khadir, raktasar, kantaki, balpatra, dantadhawan, terra japonica, is a frequently used chemical in the cosmetic industry. Some of these names refer to the sources of the substance, some of which, such as katechu or cutch tree, are the plants from which the substance is extracted.

C13-15 Alkane is used in the cosmetic industry primarily for its emulsifying properties, or as an ingredient in creams, shampoos or makeup. These substances are characterised in particular by the fact that they make it possible to reduce or completely eliminate the use of petroleum derivatives, which are considered harmful to our skin and scalp and whose use the cosmetics industry is thus trying to avoid. C13-15 Alkane are therefore a great alternative that is also more environmentally friendly. They are also hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic, which means they do not cause allergic reactions or promote acne formation. It is therefore a very popular and frequently used ingredient in cosmetics.
