Alkylpolyglucoside

Alkyl polyglucosides, also known as APG, Sparteine or Triton, are non-ionic tensides, which means they are detergents and cleaning agents. They are widely used in many industries due to their properties such as their ability to form foam, remove dirt and their function as emulsifiers, which means that they allow the mixing of two immiscible substances such as water and oil. These excellent properties are due to the chemical structure of alkyl polyglucosides: they have a hydrophobic end, which is the water-repellent end, and a hydrophilic end, which is the water-attracting end.

Alkyl polyglucosides can be found in many household products, including detergents, washing powders and soaps. They are also often used in the cosmetics industry, especially in hair and skin care products. Products such as shampoos, conditioners, hand, body or face creams often contain these substances.
