About the Brand

The brand was founded by a businesswoman born as Florence Nightingale Graham, who later adopted the name Elizabeth Arden. She opened the first Red Door salon on Fifth Avenue in New York in 1910.

The founder's philosophy combined science with nature in beauty care. Her Total Beauty concept encompassed skincare, nutrition and physical fitness. Elizabeth Arden was also a pioneer of eye makeup in the United States and of cosmetic transformations known as makeovers. She also developed travel-sized cosmetic products and a system of trained travelling demonstrators and saleswomen.
